Bara was asked by a man from Qays, "Did you flee from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hunayn?"Bara replied, "But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not flee. The Hawazin that day were skilled archers. When we charged at them, they scattered, so we fell upon the spoils. Then they confronted us with their arrows. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on his white mule, with Abu Sufyan bin Harith holding its bridle, and he was saying, 'I am the Prophet, this is no lie. I am the son of Abdul-Muttalib.'"
