The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah decrees a matter in the heaven, the angels beat their wings in submission to His word, like a chain being dragged over smooth rock. Then, 'when the terror is removed from their hearts, they say, "What did your Lord say?" They say'" to the one who asked, "'The truth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great'" [Saba 34:23]. "So the eavesdroppers hear it, and the eavesdroppers are arranged like this, one above the other."Sufyan illustrated this with his hand, tilting it and spreading his fingers apart."One of them hears the word and passes it down to the one beneath him, and that one passes it to the one beneath him, until it is delivered onto the tongue of a sorcerer or a soothsayer. Sometimes the shooting star strikes him before he can pass it on, and sometimes he passes it on before it strikes him. Then he mixes a hundred lies with it, and people say, 'Did he not tell us on such and such a day that such and such would happen?' So he is believed because of that one word that was heard from the heaven."
