The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, "There is no migration after the conquest, but only jihad and intention. So if you are called to march out, then march out."He also said on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, "This land was made sacred by Allah on the day He created the heavens and the earth. It is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection. Fighting in it was not permitted to anyone before me, and it was permitted to me only for an hour of one day. It is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection. Its thorny shrubs are not to be cut, its game is not to be startled, its lost property is not to be picked up except by one who will announce it, and its fresh grass is not to be cut."Abbas said, "Messenger of Allah, except for idhkhir, for it is used by their blacksmiths and in their houses."He replied, "Except for idhkhir."
Bukhari related it in the Chapter on the Recompense for Hunting (1834), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1353: 445), the wording being his, both through the route of Jareer, from Mansur, from Mujahid, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, who related it.There are other hadiths on this subject, and they are mentioned in the chapters on the merits of various lands.
