She said, "Some people asked the Prophet ﷺ about soothsayers."He replied, "They are nothing."They said, "Messenger of Allah, but sometimes they tell us things that turn out to be true."The Prophet ﷺ said, "That is a word of truth which the jinni snatches and clucks into the ear of his human friend like the clucking of a hen, then they mix more than a hundred lies with it."
قالت: سأل أناس النبي ﷺ عن الكهان، فقال: إنهم ليسوا بشيء. فقالوا: يا رسول الله، فإنهم يحدثون بالشيء يكون حقا. قال: فقال النبي ﷺ: تلك الكلمة من الحق، يخطفها الجني، فيقرقرها في أذن وليه كقرقرة الدجاجة، فيخلطون فيه أكثر من مائة كذبة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tawheed (7561), and Muslim in the Book of Salam (2228), both of them via Mamar, from Zuhri, who said, Yahya bin Urwa bin Zubayr informed me that he heard Urwa bin Zubayr, from Ayesha, who said, and then she mentioned it.
