Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul used to say to a slave girl of his, "Go and earn us something." So Allah revealed, "And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, if they desire chastity, so that you may seek the fleeting gain of this worldly life. And whoever compels them, then Allah, after their being compelled," that is, toward them, "is Forgiving and Merciful" [Nur 24:33].In another wording reported from him, Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul had a slave girl called Musayka and another called Umayma, and he used to force them into fornication. They complained about this to the Prophet ﷺ, so Allah revealed, "And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution," up to His words, "Forgiving and Merciful" [Nur 24:33].
Muslim narrated it in the tafsir (3029) through several routes from Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said, then he mentioned it. The second wording (30:2029) is through the route of Abu Awana, from Amash, with the same chain.
