Ibn Abbas sought permission to visit Ayesha before her death, while she was overcome by illness.She said, "I fear he will praise me."It was said to her, "He is the cousin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and one of the prominent Muslims."She said, "Let him in."He asked, "How do you find yourself?"She replied, "Well, if I am mindful of Allah."He said, "Then you are well, Allah willing. You are the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he married no virgin other than you, and your innocence was sent down from heaven."Then Ibn Zubayr entered after him, and she said, "Ibn Abbas came in and praised me, and I wish I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight."
استأذن ابن عباس قبل موتها على عائشة وهي مغلوبة. قالت: أخشى أن يثني علي. فقيل: ابن عم رسول الله ﷺ، ومن وجوه المسلمين. قالت: ائذنوا له، فقال: كيف تجدينك؟ قالت: بخير إن اتقيت. قال: فأنت بخير إن شاء الله، زوجة رسول الله ﷺ، ولم ينكح بكرا غيرك، ونزل عذرك من السماء، ودخل ابن الزبير خلافه، فقالت: دخل ابن عباس، فأثنى علي، ووددت أني كنت نسيا منسيا.
