The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is held back by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: … ومن بطأ به عمله لم يسرع به نسبه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Remembrance and Supplication (2699) through several routes from Abu Muawiya, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it.As for what has been reported from the Prophet ﷺ, "On the Day of Judgment all lineages will be severed except my lineage and my bond," and in another version, "My kinship is connected in this world and the next," all of these are defective in their chains of transmission and objectionable in their wording, since they contradict the Book and the sound sunnah.Shawkani, after citing the hadith along with the story of a man, said, "This wording contains an objectionable element that will not be hidden from anyone familiar with his speech, ﷺ." Al-Fawaid al-Majmuah (321).Even if the hadith were sound, its meaning would be that on the Day of Judgment no bond or lineage will remain except his lineage and his bond, which are faith, the Quran, and righteous deeds.
