I was behind Abu Hurairah while he was performing ablution for prayer, and he was extending his hand until it reached his armpit. I said to him, "Abu Hurairah, what kind of ablution is this?"He replied, "Sons of Faruq, you are here! Had I known you were here, I would not have performed ablution this way. I heard my beloved friend ﷺ say, 'The ornamentation of the believer will reach as far as the ablution reaches.'"
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (250) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Khalaf narrated to us, from Abu Malik Ashjai, from Abu Hazim, who then related it.As for His saying, "and their garments therein will be silk" [Hajj 22:23], this means that the clothing of the people of Paradise will be made of silk, from brocade, fine silk, and the like, as Allah the Exalted said, "Upon them will be garments of green fine silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink to drink" [Insan 76:21]. This is for the believers in the Hereafter, and they are not permitted to wear it in this world. As for the disbelievers, they wear silk and brocade in this world, and so they are forbidden it in the Hereafter.
