Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

Ali said, "I am the first to kneel before the Most Merciful for judgment in a dispute on the Day of Resurrection."Qays bin Abbad said, "It was concerning them that this verse was revealed, 'These are two opposing parties who disputed concerning their Lord' [Hajj 22:19]." He explained that they were the men who fought in single combat at Badr, Hamza, Ali, and Ubayda, or Abu Ubayda bin Harith, against Shayba bin Rabia, Utba, and Walid bin Utba.In another narration, Ali said, "This verse was revealed concerning us, 'These are two opposing parties' [Hajj 22:19]."

عن علي بن أبي طالب أنه قال

أنا أول من يجثو بين يدي الرحمن للخصومة يوم القيامة. وقال قيس بن عباد: وفيهم أنزلت: {هذان خصمان اختصموا في ربهم} قال: هم الذين تبارزوا يوم بدر: حمزة، وعلي، وعبيدة، أو أبو عبيدة بن الحارث، وشيبة بن ربيعة، وعتبة، والوليد بن عتبة. وفي رواية: قال علي: فينا نزلت هذه الآية: {هذان خصمان}
