Some Bedouins used to come to the Prophet ﷺ and accept Islam. When they returned to their lands, if they found a year of rain, a year of abundance, and a year of healthy births, they would say, "This religion of ours is good," and they would hold fast to it. But if they found a year of drought, a year of poor births, and a year of famine, they would say, "There is no good in this religion of ours."So Allah revealed, "And among the people is he who worships Allah on an edge" [Hajj 22:11].
كان ناس من الأعراب يأتون النبي ﷺ، فيسلمون، فإذا رجعوا إلى بلادهم، فإن وجدوا عام غيث وعام خصب وعام ولاد حسن، قالوا: إن ديننا هذا صالح، فتمسكوا به، وإن وجدوا عام جدوبة وعام ولاد سوء وعام قحط، قالوا: ما في ديننا هذا خير، فأنزل الله {ومن الناس من يعبد الله على حرف}.

Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his tafsir, as found in the tafsir of Ibn Kathir (5/400), and Diya narrated it in al-Mukhtarah (10/118-119), both of them by way of Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Saad bin Uthman, who said, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ashath bin Ishaq Qummi, from Jafar bin Abu Mughira, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said, and then he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman, Abdullah bin Saad, Ashath bin Ishaq, and Jafar bin Abu Mughira, for all of them are hasan al-hadith.
