Regarding the verse "And among the people is he who worships Allah on an edge" [Hajj 22:11], Ibn Abbas said, "A man would arrive in Madinah, and if his wife bore him a son and his mares produced foals, he would say, 'This is a good religion.' But if his wife did not bear a child and his mares did not produce foals, he would say, 'This is a bad religion.'"
{ومن الناس من يعبد الله على حرف} قال: كان الرجل يقدم المدينة، فإن ولدت امرأته غلاما، ونتجت خيله، قال: هذا دين صالح. وإن لم تلد امرأته، ولم تنتج خيله، قال: هذا دين سوء.
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir (4742) from Ibrahim bin Harith, who said, Yahya bin Abu Bukayr narrated to us, who said, Israil narrated to us, from Abu Husayn, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said, and he mentioned it.
