A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My brother is suffering from diarrhea."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give him honey to drink."So he gave it to him, then returned and said, "I gave him honey, but it only made his diarrhea worse."The Prophet ﷺ told him the same thing three times. When he came the fourth time, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Give him honey."The man replied, "I have given it to him, but it only made his diarrhea worse."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has spoken the truth, and your brother's stomach has lied. Give him honey."So he gave it to him, and he was cured.
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ، فقال: إن أخي استطلق بطنه. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: اسقه عسلا فسقاه. ثم جاء فقال: إني سقيته عسلا فلم يزده إلا استطلاقا، فقال له ثلاث مرات ثم جاء الرابعة فقال: اسقه عسلا فقال: لقد سقيته، فلم يزده إلا استطلاقا. فقال: صدق الله وكذب بطن أخيك فسقاه، فبرأ.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Medicine (5716), and Muslim in the Book of Greetings (2217), both of them from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar told us, who said, Shuba told us, from Qatada, from Abu Mutawakkil, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who said, and then he mentioned it. The wording given is that of Muslim, and the wording of Bukhari is similar to it.There are other hadiths on this subject mentioned in the Book of Medicine.
