The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The believers will be saved from the Fire, then they will be detained on a bridge between Paradise and the Fire, where retribution will be exacted from one another for wrongs that occurred between them in the world. Once they have been refined and purified, they will be permitted to enter Paradise. By the One in whose hand is Muhammad's soul, each of them will know his way to his dwelling in Paradise better than he knew his way to his dwelling in the world."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: يخلص المؤمنون من النار، فيحبسون على قنطرة بين الجنة والنار، فيقص لبعضهم من بعض، مظالم كانت بينهم في الدنيا، حتى إذا هذبوا، ونقوا، أذن لهم في دخول الجنة، فوالذي نفس محمد بيده! لأحدهم أهدى بمنزله في الجنة منه بمنزله كان في الدنيا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Softening of Hearts (6535), from Salit bin Muhammad, he said, Yazid bin Zuray told us, he said, Saeed bin Abu Aruba told us, he said, Qatada told us, that Abu Mutawakkil Naji told them, that Abu Saeed Khudri told them, he said, then he related it.Ahmad narrated it (11706), from Affan, he said, Yazid bin Zuray told us, in a similar manner, and he added at the end, saying, Qatada said, and some of them said, they resembled nothing so much as people leaving their Friday prayer after it had ended.
