He heard Ali, when Ibn al-Kawwa asked him about this verse, say, "They are the disbelievers of Quraysh on the day of Badr."
في قوله تعالى: {ألم تر إلى الذين بدلوا نعمت الله كفرا وأحلوا قومهم دار البوار جهنم يصلونها وبئس القرار}
سمع عليا وسأله ابن الكواء عن هذه الآية قال: هم كفار قريش يوم بدر.

Nasai narrated it in Kubra (11203), Ibn Jareer Tabari in his Tafsir (13/672), and Ibn Abu Hatim in his Tafsir (2246/7), all of them through the route of Shubah, from Qasim bin Abu Bazza, from Abu Tufayl, and he related it.Its isnad is sahih.Hakim narrated it (2/352) through another route, from Abu Tufayl Amir bin Wathila, with the same wording. He said, "This is a sahih hadith of elevated status."
