The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Two visitors came to me last night and roused me from sleep. We traveled until we reached a city built of golden bricks and silver bricks. Some men met us. Half of their bodies were as beautiful as anything you have ever seen, and the other half as hideous as anything you have ever seen. The two visitors said to them, 'Go and plunge into that river.' They plunged into it, then returned to us with that ugliness gone from them. They had become utterly beautiful in form. The two said to me, 'This is the Garden of Eden, and that over there is your dwelling.' They said, 'As for those people who were half beautiful and half ugly, they mixed righteous deeds with evil ones, and Allah has pardoned them.'"
Bukhari related it in the tafsir (4674), from Muammal bin Hisham, who said, Ismail bin Ibrahim narrated to us, who said, Awf narrated to us, who said, Abu Raja narrated to us, who said, Samura bin Jundab narrated it, then he mentioned it.
