The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah will not strip knowledge from you by snatching it away after He has given it to you. Rather, He will take the scholars along with their knowledge, leaving behind ignorant people who will be asked for religious verdicts. They will issue rulings, going astray themselves and leading others astray."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إن الله لا ينزع العلم منكم بعدما أعطاكموه انتزاعا، ولكن يقبض العلماء بعلمهم، ويبقى جهال، فيسألون فيفتون، فيضلون ويضلون.
Tabarani related it in Awsat (Majma Bahrayn - 334) from Muttalib, who said, Abdullah narrated to us, Layth narrated to me, from Umar bin Saaib, from Usama bin Zayd, from Yaqub bin Ashaj, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he then mentioned the hadith.Muttalib is Ibn Shuayb, a trustworthy scholar among the teachers of Tabarani. Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of Layth, concerning whom there is disagreement. The conclusion, as stated in Taqrib, is, "Truthful, but made many errors, though reliable in his book." His teacher and his teacher's teacher are all truthful.
