Tabarani narrated it in Awsat (Majmaul-Bahrain, 273) from Bakr bin Sahl, who said, Abdullah bin Yusuf told us, Ibn Lahia told us, Darraj told us, from Abdul-Rahman bin Hujayra, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith.Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Ibn Hujayra except Darraj, and Ibn Lahia alone transmitted it."I say, Ibn Lahia did not transmit it alone, for Amr bin Harith corroborated him, reporting that Darraj Abu Samh told him, with the same chain and similarly.Hakim narrated it (4/457), and Ibn Abdul-Barr in Jami Bayan Ilm (1043), both by way of Ibn Wahb, who said, Amr bin Harith informed me, with his chain.Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad, and the two of them did not include it."I say, its isnad is hasan because of Darraj, who is Ibn Saman al-Qurashi al-Sahmi, their freedman, the Egyptian, about whom there is disagreement. Ahmad said, "His hadith is munkar." Nasai said, "He is not strong," and elsewhere said, "Munkar al-hadith." Daraqutni said, "Daif," and elsewhere said, "Matruk." However, Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy. Abu Dawud said, "His hadiths are sound except what comes from Abu Haytham, from Abu Saeed."Ibn Adi cited a number of his hadiths in Kamil and did not mention the hadith under discussion among them, saying, "I hope that his hadiths besides these that have been criticized against him are not problematic." Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators.In Taqrib it says, "Truthful, but there is weakness in his hadith from Abu Haytham."Here, however, he narrates from Abdul-Rahman bin Hujayra.
