Jubayr said, "Uthman bin Affan and I went together to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'You have given a share from the fifth of Khaybar to the descendants of Muttalib but left us out, even though our relation to you is the same as theirs.'"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The descendants of Hashim and the descendants of Muttalib are one and the same."Jubayr added, "The Prophet ﷺ did not allot anything to the descendants of Abd Shams or the descendants of Nawfal."
مشيت أنا وعثمان بن عفان إلى النبي ﷺ، فقلنا: أعطيت بنى المطلب من خمس خيبر، وتركتنا، ونحن بمنزلة واحدة منك. فقال: إنما بنو هاشم وبنو المطلب شيء واحد. قال جبير: ولم يقسم النبي ﷺ لبنى عبد شمس وبني نوفل شيئا.
Bukhari narrated it in Maghazi (4229) from Yahya bin Bukayr, who said, Layth narrated to us, from Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, that Jubayr bin Mutim reported it to him, and he related it.The spoils are divided among the fighters such that the foot soldier is given one share, and the horseman is given three shares, two shares for his horse, and one share for himself.
