Qays bin Abu Hazim reported,

Abu Bakr al-Siddiq recited this verse, "You who have believed, upon you is responsibility for yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided" [Maidah 5:105], then said, "People are placing this verse in the wrong context. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When people see a wrongdoer and do not restrain his hand,' or he said, 'see evil and do not change it, Allah will encompass them all in His punishment.'"
