In the context of the Battle of Badr, then a light drizzle of rain fell upon us during the night, so we went under the trees and shields, taking shelter beneath them from the rain... the hadith continues.
- في سياق قصة بدر- ثم إنه أصابنا من الليل طش من مطر، فانطلقنا تحت الشجر والحجف نستظل تحتها، من المطر… الحديث.
Ahmad narrated it (648) from Hajjaj, who said, Israil told us, from Abu Ishaq, from Haritha bin Mudarrib, from Ali, and he mentioned it in a long hadith, which is recorded in its place. The rain fell for two reasons. The first was that the ground was sandy, so Allah sent the rain upon it to make it firm underfoot. The second was that Satan had whispered to them that some of them had not purified themselves from minor and major impurity, so the Muslims bathed and became purified both outwardly and inwardly, and by this Allah removed the filth of Satan.
