Huzayll bin Shurahbil reported,

Abu Musa was asked about a case involving a daughter, a son's daughter, and a sister. He said, "The daughter receives half, and the sister receives half. Go to Ibn Masud, for he will agree with me."Ibn Masud was then asked, and he was informed of Abu Musa's ruling. He said, "I would indeed have gone astray and would not be among the rightly guided if I ruled that way. I will judge in this matter as the Prophet ﷺ judged. The daughter gets half, the son's daughter gets a sixth to complete the two-thirds, and whatever remains goes to the sister."We then went to Abu Musa and told him what Ibn Masud had said. He said, "Do not ask me anything as long as this learned scholar is among you."

His saying, "They ask you for a ruling. Say Allah gives you a ruling concerning Kalalah. If a man dies leaving no child but has a sister, she shall have half of what he left, and he shall inherit from her if she has no child. If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of what he left. And if there are brothers and sisters, men and women, then the male shall have the like of the share of two females. Allah makes clear to you lest you go astray, and Allah is Aleem of all things."
