Then the people sought further rulings, and Allah revealed "They ask you for a ruling concerning women. Say, Allah gives you a ruling concerning them, and what is recited to you in the Book" [Nisa 4:127].She said, "What Allah mentioned as being recited to them in the Book is the earlier verse in which Allah said, 'And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of other women' [Nisa 4:3]."
ثم إن الناس استفتوا {ويستفتونك في النساء قل الله يفتيكم فيهن وما يتلى عليكم في الكتب} الآية. قالت: والذي ذكر الله أنه يتلى عليهم في الكتاب الآية الأولى التي قال الله فيها {وإن خفتم ألا تقسطوا في اليتمى فانكحوا ما طاب لكم من النساء} [سورة النساء: ٣].
Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his Tafsir (4/1076), saying, I read to Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Hakam, Ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus told me, from Ibn Shihab, Urwa bin Zubayr told me, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Its basis is found in Sahihayn.
