The Prophet ﷺ said, "Learn enough of your lineage to maintain ties with your relatives, for keeping family bonds brings love among kin and prolongs one's life."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: تعلموا من أنسابكم ما تصلون به أرحامكم، فإن صلة الرحم محبة للأهل، ومنسأة للأجل.
Reported by Tabarani (98/18) - and from him Abu Naeem in Marifat Sahaba (5511) - from Ali bin Abdul-Aziz, who said, "Muslim bin Ibrahim narrated to us," who said, "Wahib (he is Ibn Khalid) narrated to us," who said, "Abdul-Rahman bin Harmala narrated to us," from Abdul-Malik bin Yaala, from Ala bin Kharija, and he related it.Its isnad is hasan because of Ali bin Abdul-Aziz and Abdul-Rahman bin Harmala, who is Aslami, for both of them render the hadith hasan.Munziri said in Targhib (3820), "Tabarani reported it from the hadith of Ala bin Kharija with the same wording as Tirmidhi, with an isnad that is not problematic."Ibn Hajar said in Fath al-Bari (6/527), after mentioning the aforementioned hadith, "It has other routes, the strongest of which is what Tabarani extracted from the hadith of Ala bin Kharija."Haythami said in Majma (1/193), "Tabarani reported it in Kabir, and its narrators are trustworthy."
