Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The people of the pre-Islamic era used to regard as forbidden everything that is forbidden, except for a father's wife and marrying two sisters at once. So Allah revealed, "And do not marry the women whom your fathers married, except what has already passed. That was indeed an indecency, a hateful thing, and an evil way." [Nisa 4:22]

Sahih

عن ابن عباس أنه قال

كان أهل الجاهلية يحرمون ما يحرم إلا امرأة الأب والجمع بين الأختين، فأنزل الله تعالى: {ولا تنكحوا ما نكح ءاباؤكم من النساء إلا ما قد سلف إنه كان فاحشة ومقتا وساء سبيلا}.
