Zirr said, Ubayd bin Umayr and I went in to see Ayesha. She said to Ubayd bin Umayr, "It is about time you came to visit us."He replied, "I say, mother, as the ancient saying goes, 'Visit only now and then, you will be loved all the more.'"She said, "Spare us this clever talk of yours."Ibn Umayr said, "Tell us about the most amazing thing you ever saw from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She fell silent for a while, then said, "One night he said to me, 'Ayesha, let me devote myself in worship to my Lord tonight.'I said, 'By Allah, I love your nearness, and I love whatever pleases you.'He got up, purified himself, and stood to pray. He kept weeping until his lap was wet. Then he wept until his beard was wet. Then he wept until the ground was wet.Bilal came to call him to the prayer, and when he saw him weeping he said, 'Messenger of Allah, why do you weep, when Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins?'He answered, 'Should I not be a grateful servant? A verse was revealed to me tonight. Woe to the one who recites it without reflecting upon it. "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth..." [Aal Imran 3:190], the entire verse.'"
Ibn Hibban (620) narrated it from Imran bin Musa, from Uthman bin Abu Shayba, from Yahya bin Zakariya, from Ibrahim bin Suwayd Nakhai, from Abdul-Malik bin Abu Sulayman, from Ataa, and he related it.Its isnad is hasan because of Yahya bin Zakariya bin Ibrahim, for his hadith is hasan. The hadith has other routes as well, but what I have mentioned is the soundest of them.
