When the verses of Surah al-Baqarah concerning usury were revealed, the Prophet ﷺ went out to the mosque and recited them to the people, then he forbade the trade of wine.
لما أنزلت الآيات من سورة البقرة في الربا خرج النبي ﷺ إلى المسجد، فقرأهن على الناس، ثم حرم تجارة الخمر.
Bukhari narrated it in "Prayer" (459), and Muslim in "Sharecropping" (70:1580), both by way of Amash, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Ayesha who said, and then mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's wording is similar. And the words of Allah, the Exalted, "Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury" [Baqarah 2:275]
