The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to buy cheap food and give it in charity, so Allah revealed to His Prophet, "O you who believe, spend from the good things you have earned" [Baqarah 2:267].
كان أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ يشترون الطعام الرخيص ويتصدقون، فأنزل الله على نبيه: {يأيها الذين ءامنوا أنفقوا من طيبات ما كسبتم}.

Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his Tafsir (2790) from Ahmad bin Qasim bin Atiya, who said, Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman told us, my father told me, from his father, from Ashath bin Ishaq, from Jafar bin Abu Mughira, from Saeed, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ashath bin Ishaq and his teacher Jafar bin Abu Mughira, for the two of them make the hadith hasan.
