By Allah, whenever the battle grew fierce, we would shield ourselves behind him, and the bravest among us was the one who stood level with him, meaning the Prophet ﷺ.
كنا والله إذا احمر البأس نتقي به، وإن الشجاع منا للذي يحاذي به، يعني النبي ﷺ.
Muslim reported it in the Book of Jihad and Military Expeditions (79:1776), from Ahmad bin Jannab Masissi, who said, Isa bin Yunus narrated to us, from Zakariya, from Abu Ishaq, who said, "A man came to Bara," and he mentioned it in a long hadith.
