Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Nuh will be summoned on the Day of Resurrection, and he will say, 'Here I am at Your service, my Lord.'Allah will ask, 'Did you deliver the message?'He will reply, 'Yes.'Then his people will be asked, 'Did he deliver the message to you?'They will answer, 'No warner ever came to us.'Allah will say to Nuh, 'Who will testify on your behalf?'He will say, 'Muhammad and his community.'So they will testify that he indeed delivered the message, and the Messenger will be a witness over you. That is the meaning of His statement, exalted is His mention, 'And thus We have made you a balanced community, that you may be witnesses over mankind and that the Messenger may be a witness over you' [Baqarah 2:143]. Balanced here means just."

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ: يدعى نوح يوم القيامة، فيقول: لبيك وسعديك يا رب، فيقول: هل بلغت؟ فيقول: نعم فيقال لأمته: هل بلغكم؟ فيقولون: ما أتانا من نذير، فيقول: من يشهد لك؟ فيقول: محمد وأمته، فيشهدون أنه قد بلغ، ويكون الرسول عليكم شهيدا، فذلك قوله جل ذكره: {وكذلك جعلنكم أمة وسطا لتكونوا شهداء على الناس ويكون الرسول عليكم شهيدا} الوسط العدل.

His saying, "The foolish among the people will say, 'What has turned them away from their qibla which they used to face?' Say, 'To Allah belongs the east and the Maghrib. He guides whom He wills to a straight path.' And thus We have made you a moderate nation that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the qibla which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger from who would turn back on his heels. And indeed, it was difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And never would Allah cause your faith to be lost."

Bukhari recorded it in the Tafsir (4487) from Yusuf bin Rashid, who said, Jareer narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Saeed, and he mentioned it. He also recorded it in the Itisam (7349) from Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, Abu Usama narrated to us, who said, Amash narrated to us, who said, Abu Salih narrated to us, from Abu Saeed Khudri, in a shortened form.In the narration of Abu Usama, Amash explicitly states that he narrated directly, and Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, sometimes brings out such useful points, even though Amash's use of "an" (without explicit statement of direct narration) is not a defect.His statement, "the just middle," is part of the hadith itself, raised to the level of the Prophet's own words.Likewise, Ahmad (11068) and Tirmidhi (2961) both recorded it through the route of Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Saeed, from the Prophet ﷺ, regarding His saying عز وجل , "And thus We have made you a just community", he said, meaning just. Except that some narrators made it an interpolation from Abu Saeed's own words, while the correct view is the first one.
