Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his Tafsir (1196), from Hasan bin Muhammad bin Sabbah, who said, Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Jafar bin Muhammad, from his father, who heard Jabir, and he mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata, who is Khaffaf. There is disagreement over him, but his hadith is hasan when he does not narrate something objectionable, and he has corroboration for this.That corroboration is what Muslim narrated in the chapter on the Prophet's ﷺ Hajj (1218), via the route of Hatim bin Ismail, from Jafar bin Muhammad, from his father, that he after touching the corner, performed ramal for three circuits and walked for four, then proceeded to the Station of Ibrahim and recited, "And take from the Station of Ibrahim a place of prayer" [Baqarah 2:125], and placed the Station between himself and the House, then recited in the two units of prayer, "Say, He is Allah, One" [Ikhlas 112:1] and "Say, O disbelievers" [Kafirun 109:1].So it appears that Umar's statement came before the Prophet's ﷺ action, and that Jabir bin Abdullah sometimes abridged it and other times gave it in full detail. This is why Ibn Hajar graded it sahih in Ajab fi Bayan Asbab (1/377-378), saying, after narrating it via the route of Ibn Abu Hatim, "Its isnad is sahih, and its basis is in Sahih Muslim, and Nasai and Ibn Mardawayh narrated something similar from the hadith of Jabir."On this subject there is also what was narrated from Ibn Umar, who said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if we took the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer?" Then the verse was revealed, "And take from the Station of Ibrahim a place of prayer" [Baqarah 2:125]. Tabarani narrated it in Kabir (12/305), and in it is Jafar bin Muhammad bin Jafar Madaini. Haythami said in Majma (6/316), "I do not know him, but the rest of its men are trustworthy."
