I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Recite the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions. Recite the two radiant ones, al-Baqarah and Surah Al Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading on behalf of their companions. Recite Surah al-Baqarah, for taking hold of it is a blessing, abandoning it is a regret, and the sorcerers cannot overcome it."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: اقرؤوا القرآن، فإنه يأتي يوم القيامة شفيعا لأصحابه، اقرؤوا الزهراوين: البقرة وسورة آل عمران، فإنهما تأتيان يوم القيامة كأنهما غمامتان، أو كأنهما غيايتان، أو كأنهما فرقان من طير صواف، تحاجان عن أصحابهما، اقرؤوا سورة البقرة، فإن أخذها بركة، وتركها حسرة، ولا تستطيعها البطلة.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on the prayer of travelers (804), from Hasan bin Ali Hulwani, who said, Abu Tuba - that is, Rabi bin Nafi - told us, Muawiya - meaning bin Salam - told us, from Zayd, that he heard Abu Salam say, Abu Umama Bahili told me, and he mentioned it. Muawiya said, "It has reached me that al-batala means the sorcerers."I say, Muawiya bin Salam bin Abu Salam narrated from his brother Zayd, who is Ibn Salam bin Abu Salam, and he narrated from his grandfather Abu Salam.As for his saying "the two radiant ones" (al-zahrawan), it means the two luminous ones, for they contain light and guidance.As for his saying "two shades" (ghayayatan), a ghayaya is anything that shades a person above his head, such as a cloud or the like.As for his saying "al-batala", it means the sorcerers, as Muawiya said, and they were called batala because what they produce is falsehood (batil).
