The Prophet ﷺ stood in prayer through the night until morning, repeating a single verse, "If You punish them, they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, indeed You are the Almighty, the Wise" [Maidah 5:118].

Ibn Majah (1350), Nasai (1010), and Ahmad (21388) all narrated it from the hadith of Qudama Amiri, from Jasrah bint Dijajah, from Abu Dharr, who related it.Jasrah bint Dijajah had a group of narrators who reported from her, and Ajli said, "She is a trustworthy successor," and Ibn Hibban mentioned her among the trustworthy narrators, while Daraqutni said, "Her hadith is to be taken into consideration, unless someone whose reports are to be disregarded narrates from her."I say, if her hadith contains nothing objectionable, then it is hasan, otherwise she has strange reports, as Bukhari said.There are other hadiths conveying the same meaning, mentioned in the section on night prayer.
