I saw the Prophet ﷺ reciting while on his she-camel, or on his camel, as it carried him along. He was reciting Surah al-Fath, or a portion of Surah al-Fath, in a soft tone, reciting with a gentle vibrato.
رأيت النبي ﷺ يقرأ وهو على ناقته- أو على جمله- وهي تسير به، وهو يقرأ سورة الفتح-أو من سورة الفتح- قراءة لينة، يقرأ وهو يرجع.
Bukhari related it in the Book of the Virtues of the Quran (5047), and Muslim in the Book of the Prayer of Travelers (794:237), both of them through the route of Shuba, from Muawiya bin Qurra Abu Iyas, who said, I heard Abdullah bin Mughafal say, and he mentioned it.
