The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who does not chant the Quran melodiously."
عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه قال: ليس منا من لم يتغن بالقرآن.
Abu Dawud (1469) and Ahmad (1512) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (120) and Hakim (1/569) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Layth bin Saad, from Abdullah bin Abu Mulayka, from Abdullah bin Abu Nahik, from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Abu Nahik, who is also said to be Ubaydullah bin Abu Nahik, for he is hasan al-hadith, and Nasai deemed him reliable.There is disagreement regarding Ibn Abu Mulayka. At times it is narrated from him as part of the musnad of Ibn Abbas, at times as part of the musnad of Ayesha, at times as part of the musnad of Abu Lubaba, and at times from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Ubaydullah bin Abu Nahik, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed, as a mursal narration.The correct view is that it belongs to the musnad of Saad bin Abu Waqqas, and this is what Bukhari stated, as mentioned in Ilal Tirmidhi al-Kabir (2/880–881), along with Hakim, Tahawi, Dhahabi, Ibn Hajar, and others.
