I heard Ibn Masud say regarding Bani Israil, al-Kahf, Maryam, Taha, and al-Anbiya, "These are among the earliest noble surahs, and they are among my oldest treasures."
سمعت ابن مسعود يقول في بني إسرائيل والكهف ومريم وطه والأنبياء: إنهن من العتاق الأول وهن من تلادي.
Bukhari narrated it in the Virtues of the Quran (4994) from Adam, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said, I heard Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid say, and then he mentioned it.His saying, "the early noble ones," he meant by "the early noble ones" the surahs that were revealed first in Makkah, and that they were among the first things he learned of the Quran. Ateeq means old.
