Umar said, "Ubayy is the best reciter among us, yet we set aside some of Ubayy's recitation, while Ubayy says, 'I took it from the very mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I will not abandon it for anything.' But Allah the Exalted has said, "We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring one better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?" [Baqarah 2:106]."
قال عمر: أبي أقرؤنا، وإنا لندع من لحن أبي، وأبي يقول: أخذته من في رسول الله ﷺ فلا أتركه لشيء، قال الله تعالى: {ما ننسخ من ءاية أو ننسها نأت بخير منها أو مثلها ألم تعلم أن الله على كل شيء قدير} [البقرة: ١٠٦].
