The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with his face flushed red while we were disputing over a verse of the Quran. He asked, "What is this you are engaged in?"We replied, "A verse of the Quran over which we have been disputing."He said, "Do not dispute over the Quran, for disputation concerning the Quran is disbelief."
خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ محمرا وجهه، ونحن نتمارى في آية من القرآن، فقال: ما هذا الذي كنتم فيه؟ قلنا: آية من القرآن تمارينا فيها، قال: لا تماروا في القرآن، فإن المراء في القرآن كفر.

Tayalisi narrated it in his Musnad (2400), and Tabarani in Al-Awsat (3973), both through Fulayh bin Sulayman, from Salim Abu Nadr, from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Abdullah bin Amr, who related it. The wording given is that of Tabarani, while the wording of Tayalisi is abridged. Its chain is hasan because of Fulayh bin Sulayman, whose hadith is graded hasan when it has a basis.
