The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Dreams are of three kinds. Some are terrors from Satan meant to grieve the son of Adam, some are matters a man preoccupies himself with while awake and then sees in his sleep, and some are one of forty-six parts of prophethood."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إن الرؤيا ثلاث: منها أهاويل من الشيطان ليحزن بها ابن آدم، ومنها ما يهم به الرجل في يقظته فيراه في منامه، ومنها جزء من ستة وأربعين جزءا من النبوة.
Ibn Majah (3907) and Ibn Abu Shayba (31147) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (6042) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Yahya bin Hamza, who said, Yazid bin Ubayda narrated to us, who said, Abu Ubaydullah Muslim bin Mishkam narrated to me, from Awf bin Malik, and he related it.Muslim bin Mishkam said, I said to him, "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He said, "Yes, I heard it myself from the Messenger of Allah, I heard it myself from the Messenger of Allah."Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Yazid bin Ubayda, with a fatha on the ayn, who is Sakuni, of Damascus, for his hadith is hasan. As for Busiri, he said in Misbah Zujaja, "Its chain of transmission is sahih."
