The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no contagion, no evil omen from owls, no ghouls, and no ill omen in the month of Safar."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لا عدوى، ولا هامة، ولا غول، ولا صفر.
Reported by Abu Dawud (3913), Bazzar (8899, 8948), Tabari in the Musnad of Ali from Tahzib Athar (9), and Tahawi in Sharh Maani (4/308-309), all of them through the route of Yahya bin Ayub, who said, "Ibn Ajlan narrated to me," who said, "Qaqa bin Hakeem, Ubaydullah bin Miqsam, and Zayd bin Aslam narrated to me," from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Abu Dawud confined himself to mentioning the ghoul, and neither he nor Bazzar mentioned the story of Abu Hurairah's refusal to accept the saying "nor is there contagion." Its chain of transmission is hasan on account of Yahya bin Ayub Ghafiqi and Ibn Ajlan, for the two of them make the hadith hasan.
