The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Ajwa date is from Paradise and contains a cure for poison. Truffles are a form of manna, and their water is a remedy for the eyes."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: العجوة من الجنة وفيها شفاء من السم، والكمأة من المن، وماؤها شفاء للعين.
Tirmidhi (2066) narrated it through several routes from Saeed bin Amir, from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Muhammad bin Amr (he is Ibn Alqama), for he is hasan al-hadith. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, and it comes from the hadith of Muhammad bin Amr, and we do not know it except from the hadith of Saeed bin Amir from Muhammad bin Amr."Ahmad (8002), Tayalisi (2519), and Abu Yaala (6398) all narrated it from the hadith of Abu Bishr, from Shahr bin Hawshab, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned something similar. Ibn Majah (3455) narrated it through another route from Matar Warraq, from Shahr bin Hawshab with the same wording. Shahr bin Hawshab is not problematic as a corroborating narrator, for he is hasan al-hadith. Abu Bishr is Jafar bin Iyas bin Abu Wahshiya, who is trustworthy, Ibn Main, Abu Zura, and others confirmed his trustworthiness, while Shuba criticized him regarding Habib bin Salim and regarding Mujahid. He has also been corroborated.Tirmidhi (2068) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Muaz bin Hisham told us, my father told us, from Qatada, from Shahr bin Hawshab, from Abu Hurairah, that some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The truffle is the smallpox of the earth," so the Prophet ﷺ said, "The truffle is from the manna, and its water is a cure for the eye, and the ajwa date is from Paradise, and it is a cure for poison." Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith." The hadith has other routes as well, and the one I have mentioned is the most sahih of them.
