I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he summoned a cupper and ordered him to cup him. The cupper brought out cupping vessels made of horn, fastened them onto him, and made an incision with the edge of a blade, pouring the blood into a container beside him.A man from the tribe of Banu Fazarah came in and asked, "What is this, Messenger of Allah? Why do you allow this man to cut into your skin?"I heard the Prophet ﷺ reply, "This is cupping."The man asked, "And what is cupping?"He answered, "It is among the best remedies people use for treatment."
Reported by Ahmad (20172), Bazzar in Kashf Astar (1216), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (7/223). Hakim graded it sahih (4/208). All of them narrated it through Abdul-Malik bin Umayr, from Husayn bin Abu Hurr (he is Husayn bin Malik bin Khashkhash), from Samura bin Jundab, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
