I said, "Messenger of Allah, there are things we used to do in the days of ignorance." She mentioned among them, "And among us are Some men who practice divination by drawing lines."He replied, "There was a prophet among the prophets who used to draw lines, so whoever's line matches his, that one is correct."
قلت: يا رسول الله أمورا كنا نصنعها في الجاهلية فذكر منها: ومنا رجال يخطون قال: كان نبي من الأنبياء يخط فمن وافق خطه فذاك.
Muslim narrated it in "The Book of Greetings" (537) through various routes from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Hilal bin Abu Maymuna, from Ata bin Yasar, from Muawiya bin Hakam Sulami, and he related it. The hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir was narrated by Ahmad (23762) at length, and it is mentioned in its proper place.
