The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon in this mosque, the Mosque of Khayf, and said, "May Allah brighten the face of a person who hears my words, memorizes them, and conveys them to others. Many a bearer of knowledge carries it to one who has greater understanding than himself, and many a bearer of knowledge is not himself a person of understanding.Three things over which the heart of a Muslim shall harbor no malice: sincerity in deeds for Allah, giving sincere counsel to those in authority, and adhering to the community of Muslims, for their call encompasses those behind them."
خطب رسول الله ﷺ في هذا المسجد- مسجد الخيف- فقال: نضر الله امرءا سمع مقالتي هذه-فحفظها حتى يبلغه غيره، فرب حامل فقه إلى من هو أفقه منه، ورب حامل فقه غير فقيه. ثلاث لا يغل عليهن قلب امرئ مسلم: إخلاص العمل الله، والنصيحة لولاة الأمر، ولزوم جماعتهم، فإن دعوتهم تحيط من ورائهم.
Abu Naeem narrated it in Akhbar Asbahan (2/90) via the route of Ubaydullah bin Muaz, who said, my father narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Talha, from Zubayd, from Murrah, from Abdullah bin Masud, and he mentioned it. This isnad is sahih. Ibn Abdul-Barr also narrated it in Jami Bayan Ilm (1/181) through another route, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Ibn Masud.As for what Tirmidhi (2658), Ibn Majah (232), Ahmad (1/437), and Ibn Hibban (66) narrated, all of them through the hadith of Simak bin Harb, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Masud, from Abdullah bin Masud, this contains a problem, for Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Masud did not hear from his father, and he was a mudallis. Ibn Main denied outright that he heard from his father, while Ibn Madini said, he met his father and heard two hadiths from him, but this is not one of the two. For more, see Tarif Ahl Taqdis.
