Bukhari reported it in the Book of Medicine (5738), and Muslim in the Book of Greetings (2195), both through the route of Sufyan (that is, Thawri), who said, Mabad bin Khalid narrated to me, he said, I heard Abdullah bin Shaddad narrate from Ayesha, and he related it.As for what was reported from her as a raised hadith, "Seek refuge in Allah, for the evil eye is real," it is daif. It was reported by Ibn Majah (3508) and Hakim (4/215), both from the hadith of Abu Waqid, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Ayesha, and he related it. Abu Waqid is Salih bin Muhammad bin Zaida Madani, and he is daif. Bukhari said, "His hadith is munkar (rejected)." Abu Hatim said, "His hadith is daif." Abu Zura, Abu Dawud, Nasai, and others also declared him daif.As for Hakim, he said, "This is a sahih hadith meeting the standard of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), though they did not include it in this wording. They only agreed upon the hadith of Ibn Abbas, 'The evil eye is real.'" End of his statement.But it is not as he said, for Abu Waqid is among the narrators of the Sunan works, and he is indeed daif as noted. As for the hadith of Ibn Abbas, both Shaykhs agreed upon it, so it is exactly as he described.
