The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reported by one who had companionship with him, said, "My heart sometimes feels clouded, and I seek Allah's forgiveness a hundred times a day."In another wording, "People, turn to Allah in repentance, for I myself turn to Him in repentance a hundred times a day."
- وكانت له صحبة- أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إنه ليغان على قلبي، وإني لأستغفر الله، في اليوم مائة مرة وفي لفظ: يا أيها الناس توبوا إلى الله، فإني أتوب في اليوم إليه مائة مرة
Muslim narrated it in "Remembrance and Supplication" (2702:41) through several routes from Hammad bin Zayd, from Thabit, from Abu Burda, from Aghar Muzani, and he mentioned it with the first wording. He also narrated it (42) through the route of Shuba, from Amr bin Mura, from Abu Burda, who said, I heard Aghar, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, narrating to Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it with the second wording.As for what is narrated from Saeed bin Abu Burda bin Abu Musa, from his father, from his grandfather, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I seek Allah's forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance seventy times a day," this is an error. Ibn Majah (3816) and Ahmad (19672) both narrated it through the route of Mughira bin Abu Hurr, from Saeed bin Abu Burda bin Abu Musa, from his father, from his grandfather Abu Musa, who mentioned it, and the wording given is that of Ibn Majah.What is correctly preserved is what Thabit Bunani and Amr bin Mura narrated, both saying, from Abu Burda, from Aghar Muzani, as in the preceding narration.
