The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever does well in what remains of his life will be forgiven for what has passed, and whoever does wrong in what remains will be held accountable for both what has passed and what remains."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من أحسن فيما بقي غفر له ما مضى، ومن أساء فيما بقي أخذ بما مضى وما بقي.

Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat (Majma Bahrayn 4735), and Fasawi in Al-Marifa wal-Tarikh (2/357), both from the hadith of Sulayman bin Abdul-Rahman, from Yahya bin Hamza, from Wadeen bin Ata, from Yazid bin Marthad, from Abu Dharr, who related it.Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Wadeen except Yahya."I say, Yahya is trustworthy, so his being the sole narrator does not harm the hadith, but his teacher Wadeen bin Ata is disputed. The closer view is that his hadith should be graded hasan unless the opposite becomes clear, and for this reason the chain becomes hasan. Haythami also graded it hasan in Al-Majma (10/202).
