The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no supplication a servant can make better than, 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the next.'"
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ما من دعوة يدعو بها العبد أفضل من: اللهم إني أسألك المعافاة في الدنيا والآخرة.
Ibn Majah (3851) narrated it from Ali bin Muhammad, who said, "Hisham the companion of Dastawai told us, from Qatada, from Ala bin Ziyad Adawi, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Busiri also graded it sahih. However, there is disagreement about it going back to Qatada. Hisham Dastawai narrated it from him in this manner, while Imran bin Dawwar Qattan narrated it from him, from Ala bin Ziyad, from Muaz bin Jabal, but Ala never met Muaz. Hammam bin Yahya narrated it from him, from Ala bin Ziyad, from the Prophet ﷺ, as a mursal report. The connected version represents an addition from a trustworthy narrator, and it is accepted.
