The Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate, "My Lord, help me and do not help others against me. Grant me victory and do not grant victory against me. Plan for me and do not plan against me. Guide me and make guidance easy for me. Grant me victory over those who transgress against me.O Allah, make me deeply grateful to You, deeply mindful of You, full of awe of You, devoutly obedient to You, humble before You, sighing and turning constantly to You.My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, make firm my argument, make my tongue speak rightly, guide my heart, and remove the rancor from my chest."
كان النبي ﷺ يدعو: رب أعني ولا تعن علي، وانصرني ولا تنصر علي، وامكر لي ولا تمكر علي، واهدني ويسر الهدى لي، وانصرني على من بغى علي، اللهم اجعلني لك شكارا، لك ذكارا، لك رهابا، لك مطواعا، لك مخبتا، و إليك أواها منيبا، رب تقبل توبتي، واغسل حوبتي، وأجب دعوتي، وثبت حجتي، وسدد لساني، واهد قلبي، واسلل سخيمة صدري.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (1510, 1511), Tirmidhi (3551) - and this is his wording -, Ibn Majah (3830), Ahmad (1997), Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (664, 665), and Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (607), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (947, 948), and Hakim (1/519-520), all of them through chains going back to Sufyan Thawri, from Amr bin Mura Jamali, from Abdullah bin Harith the scribe and teacher, from Taliq bin Qays Hanafi, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."Hakim said, "This is a hadith with a sahih chain of transmission."Ibn Majah said, "Abu Hasan Tanafisi said, I asked Waki, 'Should I say it in the qunut of Witr?' He said, 'Yes.'"As for his saying "the rancor of my heart," it means its malice and spite.
