He said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ate with him, and I said, 'May Allah forgive you, Messenger of Allah.' He replied, 'And you as well.'"I asked Abdullah, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek forgiveness for you?"He answered, "Yes, and for all of you." Then he recited this verse, "So know that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows your movements and your resting place" [Muhammad 47:19].Then I circled around until I stood behind him, and I looked at the seal of prophethood.
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ وأكلت معه فقلت: غفر الله لك يا رسول الله قال: ولك. قلت لعبد الله: أستغفر لك رسول الله ﷺ؟ قال: نعم ولكم، ثم تلا هذه الآية {فأعلم أنه لا إله إلا الله واستغفر لذنبك وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات والله يعلم متقلبكم ومثواكم} [سورة محمد: ١٩] ثم درت حتى صرت خلفه ثم نظرت إلى خاتم النبوة.
Nasai narrated it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (422), and from him Ibn Sunni narrated it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (359), from Ahmad bin Abdah, from Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad, from Asim (who is Ahwal), from Abdullah bin Sarjas, and he related it.Muslim also narrated it in al-Fadail (2346), from Hamid bin Umar Bakrawi, from Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad, in a similar wording.
