The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Shall I teach you words to say in times of distress, or when distressed? Allah, Allah is my Lord, I associate nothing with Him."
قال لي رسول الله ﷺ: ألا أعلمك كلمات تقولينهن عند الكرب- أو في الكرب-: الله الله ربي لا أشرك به شيئا.
Abu Dawud (1525), Ibn Majah (3882), Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (649), and Ahmad (27082) all narrated it through various routes from Abdul-Aziz bin Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, who said, Hilal, the freedman of Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, narrated to me, from Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, from Abdullah bin Jafar (he is the son of Abu Talib), from his mother Asma bint Umays, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Hilal, the freedman of Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, whose kunya is Abu Tumah. Abu Hatim said, "He was a reciter among the people of Egypt." Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ammar Mawsili said, "He is trustworthy." Likewise, Abdul-Aziz bin Umar bin Abdul-Aziz is also hasan al-hadith.There has been disagreement over its chain, and Nasai judged the version mentioned above to be correct.A note, the mention of Abdullah bin Jafar was dropped from the printed edition of Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla, and it appears correctly in Tuhfat Ashraf (11/260).
